In an effort to further the fight against spam and spam senders, anti-spam company CipherTrust has introduced the newest version of their TrustedSource software.
The software works by using precise sender reputation scoring, which allows TrustedSource to validate whether or not the sender's address is legitimate. The software uses results from IronMail, another CipherTrust product, which utilizes real-time data on enterprise e-mail traffic.
Using the data provided by Message Profiler, an IronMail feature, TrustedSource examines each message and provides a highly accurate threat score based on deep message inspection and scoring techniques.
By combining their technologies, CipherTrust believes TrustedSource offers the most complete and precise reputation system ever built.
Dr. Paul Judge, chief technology officer at CipherTrust, shared his thoughts, "Based on our research, the behavior of IP addresses, and TrustedSource's feedback mechanism, which leverages information from the largest enterprise e-mail network in the world , our reputation system is far more precise when assessing the legitimacy of each sender.
Now, with the work we've done in analyzing the behavior of new e-mail senders, we're able to derive reputation scores for all of the 4.2 billion IP addresses that could potentially send e-mail. The result is more accurate and effective e-mail threat handling for our customers, whether they have seen the sender before or not."
